The Secret of NIMH (1982)
There are a lot of things in this movie that remind me of Disney's Robin Hood - the three mouse children reflect the three rabbit children and the final fight between Justin and Jenner looks a lot like Robin Hood vs. the Sheriff of Nottingham, for instance. However, there is one thing about this one that I really like - there's a reason for the talking animals. Apart from Jeremy the crow and Auntie Shrew, all of the animal characters are products of experimentation at NIMH. I'm a little unclear about why exactly Mrs. Brisby can talk and is intelligent, but we know that her husband was experimented on, so I buy that her kids would be able to talk too.
My Netflix rating: 4 stars
