South from Granada (2003)
#56 on my Top 100 List
I have yet to read a summary anywhere that really describes what this movie is about. Everyone seems far more preoccupied with calling it "soft-core porn" than anything else (which, in case any of you were curious, it isn't). Yes, there are extended sex scenes. Yes, there is even a few seconds of full frontal nudity. But it's really just the story of a man who finds himself in an unfamiliar place and tries to find comfort there. I thought it was a well-done, very touching story. It's mostly in Spanish, though there are a few times when Brenan (Matthew Goode, whose voice is still gorgeous no matter what language he's speaking) slips back into English, talking mostly to himself but also to the audience, which feels like an invitation into the story.
My Netflix rating: 5 stars

*I just redid my Top 100 list, so I've gone back and updated the numbers for those films I've already included in here. Also, there might occasionally be a movie that I've rated 5 stars but isn't on the list - since my list changes all the time, that was a movie that used to be in the Top 100 but has since been just nudged out. I keep those few at 5 stars too.
