The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
It's the sign of a well-made film when you get an ensemble cast that comes together and produces a great product. Gosford Park and Love Actually, for example, are terrific movies with stellar casts to match. This movie has a great cast - but the plot is treated like a ridiculous fantasy and the actors are given hardly anything to work with. Apparently the book is amazing, but you'd never know it from watching this. The one stand-out was Alan Rickman's vocal work as the depressed robot.
My Netflix rating: 3 stars
